the people
powering 1wall

  • UK Wallball was launched as a non-profit company in 2015 by NHS Doctor, Dan Grant in 2015. Dan’s interests in prevention strategies and social determinants of health meant he could clearly see the benefits of 1Wall – a doorstep sport, easily played on the streets for little to no money, in some of the most deprived areas in the UK.

Ten years later, UK Wallball, now with the front facing name “1Wall UK” is a registered charity with a Board of Trustees. 1Wall is having an ever growing impact on young people’s health with 30k young people who have been introduced to the game and hundreds of courts across the country.

  • Dan leads the delivery and growth of 1Wall programmes across schools and communities. He works closely with teachers, coaches and local partners to ensure sessions are inclusive, engaging and high quality, while supporting young people to progress both on and off the court. With a strong focus on participation, development and community impact, Dan plays a key role in turning simple play into lasting opportunity.

  • Matt’s journey with 1Wall began as a player. Drawn in by the simplicity and inclusivity of the game, he became deeply involved in the organisation, first supporting delivery and operations before stepping into the role of Operations Officer. He went on to lead 1Wall’s Jack Petchey programme, expanding youth opportunities and strengthening community impact across London.

Appointed CEO in 2025, Matt now leads the organisation’s strategic direction, combining lived experience of the sport with a clear focus on growth, quality and social impact. His leadership is rooted in participation, progression and creating meaningful opportunities for young people both on and off the court.
